This high-end house renovation consists of a complete remodeling of the public spaces. The clients cook and entertain frequently and wanted a modern, well-presented kitchen that is also very functional. The existing kitchen was demolished and a new, enlarged kitchen built using modern yet warm materials such as wenge wood, lacquer, and granite. The family room next to the kitchen was also remodeled with the installation of a fire place, built-in entertainment units, and audio system integrated into the walls and ceiling. A drop ceiling over the kitchen helps define the area distinct from the family room.
The sitting and dining rooms to the front of the house have a more formal and traditional atmosphere compared to the kitchen and family areas. Richer materials were used in the front rooms to reflect the home’s heritage features. Gold leaf is applied to one of the dining room walls to add warmth and texture. Furniture for the sitting room was chosen to further enhance and complement the yellow golden tones throughout. The opening in the wall between the sitting and dining rooms was further enlarged to enhance visual connection.
